Dr. Art Bacon: Artist, Educator, Mentor, Civil Rights Leader, and Friend
Dr. Art Bacon was a brilliant scientist, artist, educator and civil rights leader, whose leadership and contributions will continue to reverberate throughout the South. His recognitions and awards are too many to mention here. To us at Heritage Hall Museum and Art Center, he was an inspiration, a passionate supporter, an Artist in Residence and a treasured friend. He passed away in November 2023, and will forever be missed.
We are hosting a Tribute to Dr, Art Bacon exhibit from February 16 - Feb 29, with an opening reception on February 16, from 5 - 8pm. We have borrowed Dr Bacon art works from over 40 private and museum collections and are filling the museum with his work. We invite the public to join us, to enjoy his art, to reminisce and celebrate Dr Bacon’s life and ART. We will have a video “booth” where you can tell us your “Dr Bacon story”, and create a living history. The video will be compiled, edited and made available to the public. Refreshments will be served, the event is free, please join us to celebrate with us.
